Taking Action

Setting Traps

Traps have been set around the school and Cape Kids check them regularly.

Checking Traps

Regular trips to the traps are important to check if any pest has been trapped or to check if the eggs/bait are still there.

Ava's graph of what had visited the tracking station was interesting.

Insects and hedgehogs were the biggest visitors through our tracking stations along with a few rats and mice.  We were glad that there were no ferrets or weasels.

Sophia had contacted the council to ask for support to get traps for our school and the council kindly supported us with some.  We set these around the edge of the school.   They are now ready to trap pests and our first checking of the traps (we learnt drill skills too) showed that there were no pests caught.

We are entering our data from checking the traps into a pest trap app. which will help us have a strong system of monitoring and information.
