WHAT'S NEXT?

Bringing the birds back to our school from Cape Sanctuary is a challenge that will take us some time.

It is a long-term goal and a long term project that will be worth the time and energy and perseverance.

We will continue to set traps around the edge of the school grounds in the months ahead and then start to extend it to neighbours' places next year.

In 2018 we will continue to extend the traps out on properties towards Cape Sanctuary to help create a corridor for the birds.  We will be visiting neighbours to tell them about our plans and how they can help.

Our next part of our plan is to plant trees in our school grounds so that there will be plenty to attract the birds and keep them there.

Focus on Birds

We are now thinking of how to attract the birds. A junior class Room 3 made bird feeders from found materials and made seed balls to put in the feeders.

Bird-Friendly Environment

We have many trees at school but do not get many native birds at all so are researching how we can plant to attract the birds.

Our Trapping Starts

Now that we have finished a couple of months tracking - we will continue trapping for the remainder of the year.
